NaMo Update

Well, my word count is at 40,000 words now with ten days to go! It’s been an interesting two-and-a-half weeks trying to rush through a novel like this, and the words are not always pretty. I got stuck with stretching the story out when I hit the 23,000 mark, most likely due to an early burn out. After several days of watching my cursor blink at me tauntingly, I resorted to studying the different time travel theories and added them in the scene where my antagonist describes how it works to my protagonist.

I’m not sure how this story will read once I begin editing it, so for now I’ll enjoy seeing my current word count and worry about polishing it later.

How is your NaNo novel going? Do you have any tips you want to share with me?

  1. Mine’s getting there. I didn’t start until Nov 7th, but as of yesterday I caught up to where NaNo’s timeline says I’m supposed to be. Sitting at 31k.

Way to go! You’ll be finished in no time and I’m sure by the time NaNo’s done, you’ll know just how you want to describe time travel to your protag. I love that it’s your antagonist doing the explaining.

  2. Congratulations on your success so far. Can’t wait to hear how it all turns out. At least when you begin editing/revising, you’ve done all the hard work – got that first draft on the page. I’ve met my goals for the Picture Book Idea Month Challenge, so I’ve been happily writing daily, too. Not 50k words, but words on the page.

  3. Janyece – way to go with 31k! That is awesome!
Stacy – way to go with meeting your goals with your Picture Book Idea Month Challenge, I’ll have to try that next year.

My description of time travel is seems to much like a college paper style, so I have to edit that, (I know I’m not supposed to do that before next months revision, so I’ll briefly alter the changes through it.
Let’s keep up the good work ladies! 🙂
